Peer Review Process

All manuscripts will be reviewed anonymously (peer review) by two reviewers. Authors may suggest two potential reviewers they consider suitable to evaluate their work, clearly indicating their mailing address and email. However, the final decision on the selection of reviewers rests with the Editorial Board.

The article will undergo an initial review by the assigned editor, who will evaluate whether the article fits the journal’s publication criteria. Subsequently, two external reviewers—experts in the specific subject matter of the article—will be assigned. The external reviewers will issue their recommendation to the editor, which may consist of: direct publication of the article, publication subject to recommended modifications, or rejection. In the event of a discrepancy between the two reviewers, the assigned editor will make the final decision regarding publication. If both reviewers reach a unanimous decision, their decision will be respected.

Anti-Plagiarism System

Behavior & Law Journal applies the iThenticate text comparison software by Turnitin. As members of Crossref, we have access to the full text of articles in the Similarity Check database for comparison purposes.

Through this, we contribute to the prevention of academic and professional plagiarism by providing immediate feedback on a manuscript's similarity to other published academic and general web content.

Journal History

The Behavior & Law Journal project began to take shape in October 2014 with a clear mission: to create a rigorous space for behavioral sciences and the law. After initial months of editorial work, the first issue was released in June 2015, marking the beginning of our journey in scientific dissemination.

In its origins, the journal grew under the protection of the Behavior & Law University Foundation. This stage was fundamental to our development, as it was driven by executives who would subsequently become the founders of Evidentia University. This historical link ensured that, from day one, the publication maintained the highest standards of quality.

Closing a natural cycle of growth, starting in December 2025, the journal takes a definitive step in its institutionalization. Behavior & Law Journal officially becomes part of the editorial catalog of Evidentia University, thus consolidating its academic position and ensuring its continuity under the prestige of the university that shares its foundational DNA.

The journal is created under the Open Journal Systems developed by the Public Knowledge Project.
